Wapello County Special Election

January 26, 2021 · Main Lobby

The Wapello County voting locations for January 26th’s special election were announced by the county auditor’s office.  Bridge View Center at 102 Church Street is one of the locations.  All voting locations will be open from 7:00am to 9:00pm on Tues, Jan 26.

Eligible voters can choose any location to vote.

Republican Adrian Dickey of Packwood and Democrat Mary Stewart of Ottumwa will be vying for the State Senate seat in District 41 that was vacated by Marianette Miller-Meeks, who was elected to the U.S. House this past November.

District 41 covers most of Wapello and Jefferson County and all of Davis and Van Buren County. Some Wapello County residents live in District 40 and will not be eligible to vote in this election. Any residents unsure of which district they live in can contact the auditor’s office.

Those wishing to register on election day must provide proof of I.D. and proof of residence. Proof of I.D. includes an Iowa Driver’s License, Iowa Non-operator’s ID, U.S. Passport (not expired), U.S. Military or Veteran’s ID (not expired), Iowa Voter Identification Card (must be signed), or Tribal ID Card/Document.

If your proof of I.D. does not include proof of residence, you may use a residential lease, utility bill, including a cell phone bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, other government document or property tax statement, any of which must include name and current address and be current within 45 days and may be in an electronic format or on paper.

For more information, contact the Wapello County Auditor’s Office at (641) 683-0020 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
